Conduct Of The Rt Hon Member For Huntingdon
EDM number 49 in 1993-94, proposed by Don Foster on 22/11/1993.
That this House notes the recent review of school staffing in Cambridgeshire that revealed a need for 900 extra teachers in county schools; further notes that the review was commissioned in 1991 by the then Conservative-run council and validated by top accountants Coopers and Lybrand; is therefore surprised that a senior Cambridgeshire Conservative Member of Parliament, the Right honourable Member for Huntingdon, rubbished the review as opposition mischief making; expresses concern that the same Member of Parliament claimed, in October, that the current Cambridgeshire administration would use the review to justify putting up the community charge, which was abolished two years ago; suggest that, in future, the Right honourable Member for Huntingdon finds out a bit more about the policies of his colleagues in Cambridgeshire and his Government in Westminster before issuing statements to the Press.
