That this House is appalled by the dismissal of Sue Machin, a senior social worker at Ashworth Special Hospital and one of the Ashworth 5 who blew the whistle on over-drugging in some female wards there; is disturbed at the apparently trivial offence that cannot on its own have constituted gross misconduct and at the conduct of the disciplinary hearing; urges the Government to publish the cover-up Swann report on drug levels in the special hospital; and commends Sue Machin for her record as a caring and campaigning worker on behalf of Ashworth's patients.
