Minewater Discharge

That this House welcomes the publication by the Clear Rivers Trust of their report 'Redundant Minewater with Particular Regard to the Waterways of Nottinghamshire'; congratulates Nottinghamshire County Council for sponsoring the report; calls on British Coal to continue pumping at any colliery where there is a risk of pollution; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to take immediate action to ensure that full technical assessments are undertaken before collieries close, to insist that British Coal and the National Rivers Authority work closely together to resolve issues of minewater discharge, and to implement the report's conclusions.
