Gun Law Review;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 691A1 in 1993-94, proposed by Martyn Jones on 16/03/1994.

leave out from 'expresses' to end and add 'its satisfaction with the operation of Britain's stringent gun laws which require rigorous examination on application, only permit grant of firearms and shotgun certificates on demonstration of a genuine purpose and lays down exacting conditions for safe storage of firearms and shotguns; notes that the figures obtained by the honourable Member for Darlington show that there has been no significant change in the number of deaths by firearms since 1979, that the homicide death statistics have also been steady and are the envy of other countries; further notes that it is accepted that licensed firearms are rarely involved in crime, and that homicides in the whole of the North East in the last year for which figures are available number only six which, whilst regrettable, cannot be described as a wave of killings and cannot be broken down into whether they were caused by licensed or unlicensed firearms; and calls upon honourable Members to sign in good faith.'.

This is a ammendment to 691.
