LLOYD'S NAMES AND REGISTRATION OF MEMBERS' INTERESTS
EDM number 695 in 1993-94, proposed by Peter Hain on 01/03/1994.
That this House calls upon those honourable and Right honourable Members who are Lloyd's Names to comply fully with the rules of the Register of Members' Interests to list their membership of syndicates; further calls upon the Prime Minister to instruct all Conservative Ministers to do the same, bearing in mind that some may face bankruptcy as a result of their membership of catastrophic loss making syndicates and thereby be forced to resign their seats, so risking the Prime Minister's parliamentary majority; and calls for full and open disclosure to ensure that Conservative honourable Members who face huge losses are not treated favourably compared with other victims of the financial mismanagement, corruption and insider dealing in Lloyd's which has resulted in individual bankruptcies, destitution and even suicides.
