Investigations Into Workplace Deaths

That this House is alarmed by the findings of the West Midlands Health and Safety Advice Centre report 'A Perfect Crime', and reinforced by the Channel 4 Cutting Edge documentary that of 28 workplace deaths surveyed, 23 warrant further investigation by the law enforcement authorities and that four of these should have resulted in manslaughter prosecutions; believes that criminal investigations should now be launched into the deaths of Dennis Wall, Dennis Clark, Reginald Price and Tara Singh; considers it disgraceful that Ministers should be contemplating further reductions in standards through their deregulation initiatives; and demands that the Government give the enforcement of effective health and safety standards the priority it deserves.
