Collapse Of Guardian Windows

That this House notes that over 2,600 customers of Guardian Windows have lost a minimum of ú1,200 each following the collapse of the company with total debts of nearly ú4 million; notes that many customers had been deceived into believing their deposits were secured by the Householders Association; believes that Guardian Windows sales operation, based on unsecured promises of refunds for customers who introduced new business, has highlighted a serious loophole in the consumer protection legislation; and calls on the Government to introduce strict controls on the promotion and bonding of double glazing and similar home improvement companies.
