Oil Fabrication Yards

EDM number 1139 in 1994-95, proposed by Charles Kennedy on 17/05/1995.

That this House expresses its very great concern at the news that the oil jacket fabrication contract in connection with the Britannia field development has been awarded to a Spanish yard; notes the great dismay which this news will bring to the communities across the Highlands and the North of Scotland which depend on the economic underpinning of the Brown & Root McDermott Fabricators yards at Nigg and Ardersier, respectively; and in respect of this and all other contracts, calls upon the Minister for Energy to ensure a properly policed level playing field with the European Single Market.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
