SAUDI REGIME'S ARREST OF 75 YEAR OLD SCHOLAR

EDM number 1208 in 1994-95, proposed by George Galloway on 07/06/1995.

That this House notes with concern the arrest at 9 p.m. on 3rd June of the renowned legal scholar Sheikh Humud bin Abdullah Al-'Uqla Abh-Sha'bi by 70 thugs of the Royal Dictatorship; notes that, at more than 75 years of age and completely blind, the arrest of this famous jurisprudent represents a new low in the increasingly desperate struggle to cling to absolute power by the Saudi regime; and calls upon Saudi Arabia to release this old, blind man from their dungeons and to set free all political prisoners held in their benighted country.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
