Extension To The M4

EDM number 1236 in 1994-95, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 12/06/1995.

That this House deplores the planned extension to the M4 through Gwent; believes it to be unjustified, expensive, damaging to sites of special scientific interest and the environment more generally, and a further sign of the over emphasis on road transport, and on the private rather than the public sector, within the Government's transport policy; calls on the Secretary of State for Wales to introduce a range of policies, including radical changes in land use planning in order to reduce demand for road transport; and calls on the Secretaries of State for Wales, the Environment and Transport to respond constructively and soon to the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution report on transport.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
