Conduct Of Honourable Members And Monklands District Council

EDM number 1338 in 1994-95, proposed by Alex Salmond on 30/06/1995.

That this House recalls Early Day Motion 527 signed by 110 honourable Members and regrets that those honourable Members have not seen fit to remove their names from EDM 527 following the investigation and condemnation of the activities of Monklands District Council by Professor Black which has shown that there was a valid complaint against the council and that the concerns expressed by the people of Monklands, the SNP and rebel Labour councillors, which were brushed aside by the Labour Party's own internal inquiry, far from being a smear tactic have in fact been fully vindicated and will regard the failure by any of the 110 honourable Members to sign Early Day Motion 1320 tabled on 28th June as a tacit admission of the mistake made in providing a camouflage for the disreputable behaviour of Monklands District Council.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
