Design Visions Competition

EDM number 136 in 1994-95, proposed by Mark Fisher on 28/11/1994.

That this House welcomes the launch of Design Visions - a Parliament for the 21st Century, a competition by the Design Council to redesign the Houses of Parliament; believes that entrants to the competition should consider the lay-out of the chamber and of committee rooms, the arrangements for visitors, and the office facilities for honourable Members, their research and secretarial staff and for all who work there, a growing number of whom are women; believes this consideration of reform is comparable with changes to Parliament prescribed in the Jopling Report; and trusts the competition will inspire many varied and enterprising entries.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
