Sri Lanka Peace Negotiations

EDM number 1392 in 1994-95, proposed by James Hill on 12/07/1995.

That this House expresses its deep concern at the breakdown of negotiations between the democratically elected Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, which were aimed at seeking to end the conflict in Sri Lanka; also wishes to stress the great dangers to the peace negotiation that this breakdown has caused as it could lead to further escalation in this long running conflict; also expresses its concern at the pressures being put on those Tamil Groups by the LTTE who had supported the recent negotiations; and therefore calls on the United Kingdom Government to help in every way possible to support the Sri Lankan Government's efforts to revive the peace process negotiations.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
