Conduct Of Dr Gwyn Jones

EDM number 1422 in 1994-95, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 17/07/1995.

That this House calls on the Secretary of State for National Heritage to discharge Dr Gwyn Jones from his post as Chairman of the BBC Broadcasting Council for Wales and the seat on the BBC Board of Governors that is carried with it; and draws the Secretary of State's attention to the unprecedented second successive highly critical report by the Committee of Public Accounts on the activities of the Welsh Development Agency during Dr Jones' chairmanship, the Forty-seventh Report of Session 1993-94 (HC 353), having been followed by the Twenty-ninth Report of Session 1994-95 (HC 376), thereby underlining the ultimate responsibility of any chairman at a quango for any wrong-doing occurring during his stewardship, and prompting the inevitable conclusion that Dr Jones is not a fit and proper person to chair a public body.
