CONSERVATIVE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE

EDM number 148 in 1994-95, proposed by Don Foster on 29/11/1994.

That this House notes the Bristol North West motion submitted to the 1994 Conservative Women's Conference, urging the Minister to view, very seriously, the number of senior and head teachers leaving the profession prematurely, having become exhausted with the constant and time-consuming flow of documents and directives coming from the Department of Education and Science; further notes the motion submitted by Tiverton which regrets the lack of opportunities for those with post-graduate qualifications in the United Kingdom which has resulted in highly qualified individuals going abroad or into teaching posts as their only apparent option; believes that these motions demonstrate the lack of confidence that the grass roots of the Tory Party have in the Government's education policies; and wonders what tactics the organisers of the conference will use to ensure that the delegates vote the right way. This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
