Liverpool Docks Dispute

EDM number 1492 in 1994-95, proposed by Peter Kilfoyle on 23/10/1995.

That this House deplores the loss of 350 jobs in Liverpool Docks; endorses the concern of the local authorities, the churches and the wider local community, whilst condemning the failure of the Government to stem the haemorrhage of jobs in such areas vital to strategic national economic interests; and calls for a properly negotiated settlement to this dispute, ensuring the continued prosperity of the port, and the security of those employed in it.
