That this House views with great concern the growing influence of David Hart, the former bankrupt and CIA conduit, on government arms procurement policy in his role as an adviser to the Defence Secretary, the Right honourable Member for Enfield, Southgate; notes Mr Hart's history of clandestine operations against the 1984-85 miners' strike, carried out in collaboration with MI5, his record of attempts to smear members of the House through the Rupert Murdoch-financed 'British Briefing' newsletter and the ú1 million payoff he received from British Coal's pension funds between 1985 and 1990; believes that Mr Hart's intense lobbying effort against British and European manufacturers in favour of United States interests threatens British-based industry and employment; and calls for his immediate dismissal.
