SAINT ANDREW'S DAY AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

EDM number 152 in 1994-95, proposed by Andrew Welsh on 29/11/1994.

That this House notes that Saint Andrew's Day is not a public holiday in Scotland; further notes that Scotland has fewer public holidays than other European countries; and calls on the Government to declare 30th November an official public holiday and to mark the day by encouraging the flying of the cross of Saint Andrew.
