County Hall

EDM number 1544 in 1994-95, proposed by Tony Banks on 30/10/1995.

That this House deplores the misleading advertisements used by Galliard Homes to sell flats in the rear blocks of County Hall; notes the use of fanciful views, inaccurate claims regarding comparable property prices in London and lies in respect of Galliard's purchase; also notes the attempts by the Shirayama Group to sell on the riverside building of County Hall, for which they have not yet fully paid, to another hotel group; considers disposal of the County Hall complex to have been a scandalous exploitation of London taxpayers caused by a combination of incompetence and political malice on behalf of the London Residuary Body and Her Majesty's Government; and calls for County Hall to be taken back into public ownership.
