That this House recognizes the service and courage of members of the Metropolitan Police in preserving the peace, detecting crime, responding to emergency calls, coping with family distress, clearing up road crashes and caring for casualties; asks the Home Secretary, as London's police authority, to convey the thanks of honourable Members to the Metropolitan Police; and invites the Commissioner to arrange circulation of the article on page 12 of the Evening Standard by James Hughes-Onslow to illustrate that constant maintenance of the highest standards is helpful in building public confidence and support for the Metropolitan Police.
