Right To Silence And Legislative Anomalies
EDM number 529 in 1994-95, proposed by Terry Rooney on 01/02/1995.
That this House notes the changes to the right to silence in the Criminal Justice and Public Order further notes that under Clause 28 of the Jobseekers Bill 1994 benefit claim ants will be fined up to ú1000 for refusing to answer a question and contrasts this with the Pensions Bill where Clause 102 gives statutory right to silence to those under investigation for pension fund fraud and embezzlement; and calls on the Home Secretary to make a statement on these anomalies.
This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
