Centenary Of The Death Of Dr R W Dale Of Carrs Lane Congregational Church Birmingham

That this House, at the time of the centenary of the death of Dr R. W. Dale on 13th March 1895, after 42 years ministry at Carrs Lane Congregational Church, Birmingham, recalls his exceptional contribution to both the civic life of that city and to the exposition of the corporate responsibilities of those of Christian faith, or those adopting its principles of life; recognises the cumulative impact of his preaching, teaching and writing both in the churches and on public affairs, and thereby his contribution to the creation and achievements of the reforming governments elected in 1906 and 1945; and calls on its honourable Members to recognise that the principles and practices of public life which he advocated a century ago are applicable in all centuries, since they are rooted and grounded in the faith revealed, preached and practised in the first century A.D.
