Nottingham Social Workers

EDM number 837 in 1994-95, proposed by Alan Simpson on 15/03/1995.

That this House notes the inaccurate attack by the Secretary of State for the National Heritage on 15th March, upon the City of Nottingham, saying 'Nottingham social workers have been banned from asking for black or white coffee because the words are racist'; recognises that (i) this merely repeats a false statement made, and refuted, over three years ago, (ii) this demonstrates his failure to understand that social workers come under the county council not the city council and (iii) social services are not covered by the elections to take place in Nottingham; and suggests that, on the 'three strikes' principle of the US courts, the Minister ought to go down.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
