EDM number 862A1 in 1994-95, proposed by Ann Winterton on 23/03/1995.

at end add `notes with interest the article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Volume 86, Number 21, of 2nd November 1994, which reports the findings of Janet R. Daling Ph D of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre, Seattle; notes that these studies produced figures which revealed the deeply worrying fact that where women under the age of 18 years had an abortion after the eighth week of pregnancy their risk of developing breast cancer before the age of 45 years went up a staggering 800 per cent.; and believes that whether or not abortion is considered ethically acceptable the Secretary of State for Health should take urgent steps to ensure that in future all women presenting for abortion are first warned of this serious risk to their future health, and that steps should be taken to ensure that these high risk women are subsequently regularily monitored throughout their lives so that the onset of this condition can be identified and treated.'.

This is a ammendment to 862.
