Northern Ireland (No. 2)

EDM number 937 in 1994-95, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 29/03/1995.

That this House remembers that in 1981 Danny Morrison was Provisional Sinn Fein's director of publicity and at the 1981 Ard Fheis gave the keynote speech on behalf of the executive council; notes that he said the policy was 'with an armalite in one hand and a ballot paper in the other we will take power in Ireland'; repeats the invitation to Martin McGuinness Tuesday 28th March in the BBC Radio 4 programme, Ca ll Nick Ross, to declare that the policy has been abandoned permanently; and recognises the need for interviewers to decline to take warm words of Sinn Fein leaders at face value unless they demonstrate reliance on crosses on ballot papers in place of crosses in cemeteries.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
