MANUEL SALAZAR'S ART

EDM number 946 in 1994-95, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 30/03/1995.

That this House welcomes the opening of Native by Birth, and by Blood, an exhibition of paintings by Manuel Salazar at Congress House on Monday 3rd April; recalls an earlier motion signed by 123 honourable Members which called on the Illinois Supreme Court to enable his charge of murder to be examined at a new trial; recognises that the granting of a new trial is a triumph for the persistence of his family and supporters around the world; recognises that the Government of Mexico has petitioned the US concerning his removal from Mexico; believes that he has shown enormous courage during his 10 years on death row and produced paintings of perception and brilliance; and looks forward to the day he is released from prison and allowed to live his life as a free man. (Relevant registered interest declared.)

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
