Limitation Of Defamation: Scotland

EDM number 1033 in 1995-96, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 20/06/1996.

That this House has heard no reason or justification for Scotland to maintain three years as the general time limit for a defamation when it is agreed to reduce the limit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to one year; expects there to be a common period in the United Kingdom; and invites Scottish Office ministers to agree.
