Army Technical Support Agency, Woolwich

That this House notes proposals by the Ministry of Defence to collocate the Army Technical Support Agency in central southern England; regrets that no in-depth consideration has been given to collocation at Woolwich were part of ATSA is currently located; is appalled that no provision was made for an in-house bid for printing and distribution as part of the Competing for Quality Study; draws attention to the possible loss of 300 jobs in Woolwich, one of the most economically depressed parts of the country; believes that these decisions are of questionable coherence with other Government strategies which are to regenerate and renew run down and polluted areas such as the Woolwich Riverfront; and draws attention to the fact that these areas were polluted by the Ministry of Defence and that the Ministry of Defence is continuing to contribute to degeneration by disinvesting in capital and jobs.
