Agenda For The Arts

EDM number 1170 in 1995-96, proposed by Alan Meale on 16/07/1996.

That this House believes the Government has a responsibility to nurture the cultural health of the nation to ensure that its quality and diversity is preserved for the future; believes that the encouragement of the arts by Government would lead to a climate of free artistic expression, experimentation, development and participation by millions of people in Britain thus allowing a healthy, vibrant and lively industry of arts to thrive; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to invest more public resources into the arts which both culturally and economiclly is one of Britain's most significant success stories.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
