Export Of Toxic Wastes
EDM number 1257 in 1995-96, proposed by Alan Meale on 16/10/1996.
That this House recalls that in 1989 over 100 governments throughout the world were signatories to the Basel Convention, a treaty designed to control trading in toxic wastes from the industrialised to developing nations; notes that an amendment to this convention, banning all toxic exports from the OECD to non OECD countries forever was finally approved in 1995; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government immediately to ratify the amendment so that legal force may be given to the banning of such trades.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
