Future Of The Contributions Agency Local Offices In Wales

EDM number 177 in 1995-96, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 06/12/1995.

That this House expresses its concern at the plans of the Contributions Agency to centralise their work and to close down local out-stations and reduce the scale of responsibilities of many of the offices which remain open; believes that the plans to reduce the number of main offices in Wales from 13 to three, and the number of out-stations from nine to four, will provide a totally unsatisfactory level of service to the community; and calls on the Secretary of State for Social Security to intervene directly with the Contributions Agency in order to ensure that the level of services maintained are within easy reach of every part of Wales.
