Severe Weather Relief In Scotland

EDM number 236 in 1995-96, proposed by Archy Kirkwood on 09/01/1996.

That this House calls on the Secretary of State for Scotland to provide social work departments with immediate additional resources from the Government's emergency contingency fund to enable them to meet the financial needs of households with members over retirement age whose properties are uninsured and have been badly damaged by flooding caused by burst water and sewerage pipes following the recent exceptionally bad weather, to provide for one double payment of cold weather allowances in recognition of the unexpectedly low temperatures and to set up a review of central Government support available during spells of winter weather that are unusually severe.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
