Export Of Live Farm Animals;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 309A1 in 1995-96, proposed by David Shaw on 31/01/1996.

leave out from `House' to end and add `congratulates the Government on securing a Europe-wide agreement on the transport of live animals; understands that it will, for the first time, impose maximum journey times and improved standards on the live export trade; believes that this agreement proves that animal welfare is best dealt with at a European level; deplores the wholly irresponsible plans of the Labour Party to impose unilateral burdens on British farmers including a ban on the live export of calves; believes that such burdens do nothing to improve animal welfare standards across Europe and simply put British jobs at risk; finds Labour's policy particularly surprising since it was the last Labour Government which reintroduced the live export trade; and calls upon Labour to abandon this damaging and hypocritical policy.'.

This is a ammendment to 309.
