Igc And Objectives Of Agricultural Policy
EDM number 356 in 1995-96, proposed by Paul Tyler on 31/01/1996.
That this House is concerned that the objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy, as set out in Article 39 of the Treaty of the EU, are out of date; and calls upon the Governmentto take advantage of the opportunity presented by the IGC to redesign and refocus Article 39 so that it enables the agriculture sector to contribute to the production of high quality foodstuff, the protection and enhancement of nature and the environment and to the sustainable development of rural areas, as suggested in a recent document by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature 'New Objectives for the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union'.
