That this House notes that the honourable Member for Wokingham published figures on the number of managers of NHS trusts, namely a surge from 500 in 1986 to 20,000 in 1993; calls on the Secretary of State for Health to make a full and comprehensive statement on numbers and costs year by year since 1986; and calls for a saving of at least 50 per cent. by not renewing contracts and thus avoiding severance payments.
