Conservative Party Funding Arrangements;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 554A1 in 1995-96, proposed by David Shaw on 07/03/1996.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'congratulates the Conservative Party on the many different ways in which it raises funds from hundreds of thousands of ordinary people including membership subscriptions, coffee mornings, bridge and whist drives, luncheon clubs, drinks receptions, jumble sales, book auctions, suppers, dinners, barbeques, wine and cheese evenings, 200 clubs, raffles, tombolas, draws, newsletters and dinner brochure advertising, dances and balls, direct mail and donations; notes the considerable skills required of Conservative Party agents and voluntary workers in carrying out both fund raising activities and political activities; contrasts such skills with the Labour Party's fund raising effort that relies almost exclusively on just 10 telephone calls to 10 powerful trade union bosses who have consistently demanded a say in Labour Party policy-making through a secret liaison committee; and further notes the very large number of constituency Labour parties that are dependent on direct hand-outs from trade unions.'.

This is a ammendment to 554.
