Conduct Of Honourable Member For Caerphilly

EDM number 560 in 1995-96, proposed by Michael Fabricant on 04/03/1996.

That this House notes with alarm the recent comments by the honourable Member for Caerphilly about members of the Royal Family; expresses grave concern about his claim that the United Kingdom should be a republic; believes that any person holding such extreme views is not fit for ministerial office and calls upon the Right honourable Member for Sedgefield to sack him as Shadow Welsh Secretary; notes that a number of Labour members have publicly supported the honourable Member for Caerphilly's views; believes that they are out of step with the majority of the people in this country who do not want to live in a republic; and believes that the Labour Party having attacked hereditary peerages in the House of Lords are now revealing their secret agenda to abolish the hereditary monarchy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
