Working Hours Directive

That this House welcomes the decision of the Advocate-General in the European Court of Justice on the Working Hours Directive; notes the suppression by the Government of the Department of Health Guide on Stress at Work which stated that working more than 48 hours per week doubles the risk of coronary heart disease, and its refusal to publish the research it commissioned from Professor J.M.Harrington at Birmingham University; believes that the Government should never have commenced its legal action against the Working Hours Directive; and calls on the Government to implement the directive without further delay.
