Restrictions On Out-Of-town Superstores In Wales

EDM number 708 in 1995-96, proposed by Win Griffiths on 02/04/1996.

That this House urges the Secretary of State for Wales to recant his reported views ruling out restrictions on out-of-towm superstores in a speech to the Future of Rural Wales Conference in Cardiff on 1st April; and calls on the Secretary of State to introduce planning guidance which will give precedence to the health of town and village centres rather than continuing with the view of the Welsh Office to out-of-town superstores which is relaxed compared with the Department of the Environment in England.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
