Unemployment In Scotland

EDM number 743 in 1995-96, proposed by Roseanna Cunningham on 17/04/1996.

That this House notes with dismay the unemployment statistics for March showing that the unemployment rate in Scotland is now above the United Kingdom average after five months of disappointing figures; expresses concern that this represents a worrying trend which has been drawn to the Government's attention for many months; condemns the ú30 million cut imposed on the Scottish Enterprise budget, which includes deep cuts in training; and attacks the arrogance and complacency of Scottish Office ministers and their refusal to acknowledge that their policies are deeply damaging to Scotland's economic health.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
