Roy Castle Lung Cancer Research Centre

That this House notes the decision by the Millennium Commission to reject the application from the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Research Centre in Liverpool; further notes that the centre is unique and the appeal has already raised ú7 million for building and research and that the second phase, including capital costs, will now have to be suspended indefinitely; contrasts this decision with some of the projects which have received funding; believes the Millennium Commission to have grown dangerously out of touch with the priorities which those who fund the Commission would themselves support; and calls for them to reconsider this decision.
