Ealing Council Housing Inquiry (No. 2);amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 940A1 in 1995-96, proposed by Piara S Khabra on 11/06/1996.

leave out from `House' to end and add `recognises that influencing the allocation of council housing for political purposes is totally wrong; notes that an extensive investigation by Ealing Council into the allocation of its council housing tenancies showed conclusively that there has been no political bias; further notes that the Ealing Gazette newspaper has praised the Labour Council for the prompt investigation and the detailed way in which it has been carried out; recognises that Councillor Payne has already apologised in a council meeting for the inappropriate lobbying on behalf of his constituents which led to the inquiry; notes that it did not result in the family in question being offered a council house; and contrasts this with the behaviour of Westminster Council which housed hundreds of homeless families in either rotten bed and breakfast slums or asbestos ridden tower blocks for political gain and which has still not apologised.'

This is a ammendment to 940.
