Tower Colliery

That this House congratulates the miners of Tower Colliery, Hirwaun, on their successful completion of their first year after taking over the colliery; notes with satisfaction that their courage and faith has resulted in a profit of over ú2 million from a mine which British Coal had sought to close; records that redundant Welsh miners staked all their money on the enterprise, and have provided an inspiration for thousands of people facing economic uncertainty; and wishes the miners all success in the future of their venture.
