Mrs Saroj Acharya

EDM number 952 in 1995-96, proposed by Greville Janner on 05/06/1996.

That this House notes that Mrs Saroj Acharya of Leicester, who entered this country in May 1990, who has been given a national insurance number, pays taxes, works in Leicester and owns her own home, has been allowed to remain in the United Kingdom; further notes that the Home Office refuses to allow visas for her husband and son, whom she has not seem since 1990, to visit her, and will not grant Mrs Acharya travel documents in order to visit her family in India and is thereby rendered effectively stateless; and urges the Government once again to treat Mrs Acharya humanely and allow her access to her family.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
