British Academy Of Sport-Merseyside

That this House warmly congratulates the Liverpool City Council and the Knowsley Borough Council for their initiative in making a bid for the prestigious National Academy of Sport, which is backed by the Wirral, Sefton and St Helens local authorities and the Liverpool Echo; and believes that the City of Liverpool is the sports capital of Britain through the achievements of the Liverpool and Everton soccer teams, the world famous Grand National steeplechase, the famous boxing champions and sporting and Olympic personalities such as Dixie Dean, Nel Tarelton and Chris Boardman.
