Un International Week Of Science And Peace

That this House welcomes the 11th annual UN International Week of Science and Peace; notes that science and technology have profound links with international peace and security, economic and social development, respect for human rights and many other aspects of civilisation and culture; notes with appreciation the efforts of Scientists for Global Responsibility and the Committee on Public Understanding of Science to gain public awareness for the importance of science; congratulates the Institute of Food Research on its annual Dick Synge Memorial Event, particularly of their interactive play 'A Dip in the Gene Pool' aimed at raising public participation in science; invites other research institutes to follow their example; and calls on the Government to embrace the aims of the UN International Week of Science and Peace.
