Bradford Commission Report: Conduct Of Ministers

EDM number 244 in 1996-97, proposed by Max Madden on 25/11/1996.

That this House notes the Bradford Commission Report, published on 20th November, at paragraph 4.5.2, claims remarks made to the House on 21st June 1995, by the then Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Home Office, the honourable Member for Dorset North, about the scope of the Police Complaints Authority enquiry, established after the Bradford riots, were wrong and misleading; recollects the Home Secretary expressed identical views about the scope of the Police Complaints Authority enquiry when he rejected calls by Bradford honourable Members to establish an independent public enquiry into the Bradford riots of 9th, 10th and 11th June 1995; and urges the Home Secretary to make a statement to the House apologising for the inaccurate and misleading comments made to the House in June 1995.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
