City Of London Ring Of Steel

EDM number 332 in 1996-97, proposed by Tony Banks on 09/12/1996.

That this House opposes any further extension of the current ring of steel policy being operated by the City of London; considers it most unfair on other London boroughs that the City is able to use its highly privileged position to exclude traffic and operate police road blocks with the result - that traffic congestion and pollution is exacerbated in areas outside the City; and calls upon the Secretary of State either to remove the extraordinary traffic and policing powers of the City or extend similar such powers to all London boroughs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
