Assaults In Portadown;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 366A1 in 1998-99, proposed by Martin Smyth on 09/03/1999.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'condemns all acts of violence and intimidation; expresses regret at the continuing inability of some honourable Members to recognise media manipulation by republicans with regard to the parades issue in Northern Ireland; is concerned at the on-going intransigence and insincerity of the Leadership of the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition which has so far failed to adequately demonstrate its recognition of the right of Portadown Orangemen to walk the Queen's Highway; deplores the use of the right of protest to prevent a lawful walk and to pressurise the Government to give disproportionate financial aid to one part of Craigavon; and calls on the Leadership of the Garvaghy Road Residents' Coalition to show their good faith by allowing a peaceful parade to proceed from Drumcree Parish Church back to Portadown Town Centre without further delay.'.

This is a ammendment to 366.
