Adrian Mcmenamin

EDM number 1353 in 2001-02, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 21/05/2002.

That this House condemns the irresponsible and unprofessional remarks of Adrian McMenamin, special adviser to Paul Murphy, Secretary of State for Wales; notes that it is reported in the national press that Mr McMenamin described the elected body of the National Assembly for Wales as pathetic; further notes that Mr McMenamin added that the National Assembly's approach to politics is irresponsible; further notes that this is the second time Mr McMenamin has abused his position, and that in February 2001 he was caught peddling party political propaganda over the internet from a computer in the Wales Office; adds that Mr McMenamin is paid directly from the public purse but seems to be working for party political purposes; demands that the Secretary of State for Wales dismisses Mr McMenamin immediately and makes an official apology to the National Assembly for Wales; and meantime suggests to the Secretary of State for Wales that he should be wary of the quality of advice being offered by McMenamin, whether special or not.
